It’s Boss Time
Sasha Banks accepted everything that had been said about her with, “I did” and “Damn right I did.” She did so because she wasn’t happy with her booking, and that Becky Lynch got the main event.
She said she waited for the perfect opportunity to strike, and found it with an injured Natalya and how Lynch came to her rescue with perfect timing. Saying she’s the best in the women’s division, she wants all the glory.
Natalya came out and attacked her. Eventually, officials came out to break them up.
Sasha Banks beat Natalya by submission
One of the better matches of the night, Natalya dominated through most of the match, but Natalya tapped out after Banks slapped on a Bank Statement.
Tag Team Turmoil Tournament Announced
Street Profits ran down the tag team tournament where a new team enters the ring as one is eliminated. The participating teams are Heavy Machinery, the Revival, Lucha House Party, the B-Team, the Viking Raiders, Hawkins and Ryder, the OC, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.
Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler won the final four matches to face Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman at Clash of Champions for the Raw Tag Team Champions.
The Viking Warriors beat the B-Team by pinfall
Little more than a squash match ended following a Viking Experience.
The Viking Warriors and The OC eliminated by double disqualification
After double teaming Ivar, the match descended into a brawl and the official never had control, causing him to disqualify both teams.
Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler beat Lucha House Party by pinfall
The Lucha House Party showed some moves, but Ziggler eventually hit Metalik with a superkick to the back of the head for the pin.
Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler beat the Revival by pinfall
This was the best match of the tag team turmoil and saw both teams showing good teamwork and resiliency. After tagging in, Roode countered a brainbuster by Dawson into a ___ for the pin.
Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler beat Hawkins and Ryder by pinfall
After a brief match, Roode threw into the ring post and Ziggler his Ryder with a superkick for the win
Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler beat Heavy Machinery by pinfall
Ziggler and Roode tried to call time out before the match began, but Heavy machinery wasn’t having it and dragged them back into the ring.
Roode was set up for the compactor, but Ziggler caught Tucker with a superkick, then pulled Otis backwards onto of Tucker with a Zig-Zag. Roode then hit Tucker with a Glorious DDT for the win.
Later in the show, Ziggler and Roode cut an awesome promo for their upcoming match at Clash of Champions.
A surprise pairing, Ziggler and Roode earned a shot at the tag team titles at Clash of Champions. Some fans won’t like this, but these two deserve this chance. Plus, character wise, it’s a match made in heaven.
The Rest of Raw
King of the Ring Round 1 Week 2: Ricochet beat Drew McIntyre by pinfall
McIntyre dominated early, but Ricochet, true to form, rebounded to stay alive. Ricochet caught McIntyre in the air, showing his strength, then suplexed him. Ricochet hit with a Recoil then a 630 for the win.
Raw Tag Team Interview: Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins
When it was mentioned that they were three weeks away from Clash of Champions where every title was being defended, Rollins said he got himself into quite a quandary.
Strowman asked him who was his challenger for the Universal Championship. When Rollins hem-hawed before asking if he was challenging him, Strowman said, “We just won the tag titles last week. I just want to make sure we’re on the same page, partner. So of course, I’m challenging you for the Universal Championship.”
Rollins accepted and will probably win to continue his push.
King of the Ring Round 1 Week 2: Baron Corbin beat the Miz by pinfall
A fun match like the previous KOTR match, this went back and forth as they exchanged holds and counters. Corbin kicked out of a Skull Crushing Finale to eventually hit with an End of Days for the pin.
Bayley beat Nikki Cross by pin
In response to Bayley going after Charlotte Flair on last week’s Moment of Bliss, Cross intended to teach Bayley a lesson, and she started off fast and aggressive.
After hitting a sidewalk slam and flying elbow, Bayley scored the pin.
Cedric Alexander beat Cesaro by pinfall
A fun match, Cesaro dominated early, focusing on Alexander’s legs to take away his maneuverability, but Alexander eventually gained the upper hand after surviving a pair of half crab leg holds and an ankle lock to hit with a Lumbar Check for the pin.
24/7 Championship Update
A recap of the events at Fox’s Founder’s Day event showed R-Truth rolling Elias up while he was on stage for the pinfall. Drake Maverick failed to capitalize as Truth tossed him into the dunk tank. Truth then tripped while talking with the Fox College Football crew, allowing the host, Rob Stone to pin him to win the title (This remind anyone else of David Arquette with the WCW title?)
Elias then pinned Stone for the win and Truth took off after him.
United States Championship Rematch: AJ Styles beat Braun Strowman by disqualification
Following an interview where it was pointed out that the rematch came about because Gallows and Anderson had gotten Styles disqualified last week. Styles went on to claim he didn’t need them to beat Strowman.
A pretty good match, Styles worked on Strowman’s left leg and slapped on a Calf Crusher, but Strowman Hulked-up and straightened his leg, breaking the hold.
Following the referee being knocked out, Strowman had Styles for the pin, but there was no count. The OC then came out and attacked Strowman. The referee came to in time to see Strowman standing over Styles with the steel chair Strowman used on Gallows and Anderson and disqualified him.
Strowman then proceeded to get his pound of flesh from the OC by powerslaming all three members and then throwing the US title on Styles.
Final Thoughts
While not quite on par with last week’s Raw, the matches remained top notch and the story lines continued along. The one disappointed match was for the US Championship, but everyone knew Styles wasn’t going to lose it. It brings to mind if there’s anyone waiting in the wings to feud with Styles and the OC, or if it’s going to be Strowman after Clash of Champions.
