This past month has been perhaps the biggest in the history of WWE’s third brand, NXT. They took the fight directly to RAW & Smackdown for Survivor Series, and in the end won Survivor Series. They also had another incredible event in NXT Takeover War Games III, which showcased absolute mayhem.
Adam Cole arguably had the best month his career, and cemented himself as one of, if not the greatest NXT Champions of all time, with excellent matches on RAW & Smackdown against Daniel Bryan & Seth Rollins, and this past week working a ladder match on Wednesday, War Games on Saturday, and still defended his NXT Championship against Pete Dunne at Survivor Series. Despite all this, the crowds & perhaps WWE themselves decided on who was the true star of the weekend, and we basked in his glory.
War Games
At NXT Takeover War Games III, one of the members of Team Ciampa was the ‘Limitless’ Keith Lee, and before he was even able to enter the dual caged mayhem, the crowd was already chanting for him. He was rattling the shark cage and getting the crowd excited for his entry, and he got the second biggest pop in the match for when he was finally entering the matchup, only rivaled by the surprise appearance of Kevin Owens.
He would even the odds and was a crucial part in helping Team Ciampa gain victory in the match, when he hit a top rope powerbomb on Bobby Fish, sending him through a table and ensuring he wouldn’t be a factor anymore. The crowd was hanging on his every move, and he really stood out in the mayhem of the match.
Survivor Series
At Survivor Series, Keith Lee was part of the 5 v 5 v 5 match between the men of Smackdown, RAW & NXT, and he would be the last man standing for Team NXT, giving Roman Reigns a run for his money in an incredible final stretch that had people wishing that match was the main event of the show. He was unable to beat the multi-time world champion, but he earned Roman Reigns respect, and won over every single person in the arena with his insane combination of strength and agility. He showed that he is truly a different caliber of athlete, and one that WWE fans won’t be able to get enough of.
Addressing his amazing weekend on Twitter, Keith Lee had this to say.
“This weekend had its peaks and valleys… But the support has been unreal. Thank you to everyone. For the kinds words and support. It means so very, very much. But Chicago….you get a special shoutout. I felt you in my *SOUL* I don’t intend to let you down again.”
WWE has a megastar on their hands with Keith Lee. It’s only a matter of time before he goes on to face Adam Cole for the NXT Championship, and then everyone will truly be basking in his glory.
