Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, today is Wednesday folks and that means another edition of AEW Dynamite! And the folks at All Elite Wrestling have been kind enough to give me quite a bit to work with for my previews, like always. So I’m certainly not gonna look that gifthorse in the mouth! And there are twenty minutes until the show starts of this writing, so I’mma get a move on! Let’s look at one of our most heavily hyped matches…
Jungleboy vs. Chris Jericho
This is an interesting match to say the least. The story is thus: Chris Jericho is contractually obligated to wrestle atleast one more match for AEW before the year is out. So on this, the last AEW Dynamite of the year, he will indeed be competing, but on the condition that he gets to pick his opponent. He then rattled off a lengthy list of names he would NOT be facing, making it pretty clear he was not in the mood for a particularly tough challenge. But when the Jurassic Express emerged and Jungleboy got in Jericho’s face, Le Champion was all too ready to face off with the 0-8 wunderkind himself!
In spite of his record, Jungleboy as well as the rest of his team is quite over with the fanbase, they’re essentially a group of cult heroes. So it’s no real surprise that they’re giving him this kind of spotlight. It’s quite the potential story here, as he hopes to get his first ever AEW victory by defeating the world champion and storied legend himself. Not to mention he’d the first man to do so in a one-on-one match!
An interesting wrinkle of this is that it’s a match with a 10-minute time limit, and it’s like this for good reason as Jericho has made a big deal out of claiming that Jungleboy will not be able to last ten minutes with him. Jungleboy is certain otherwise. So basically him going the distance with him will more or less count as a victory for him, in the minds of the competitors if not the record books! Therefore, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Jungleboy manages to do this, be it by getting the win outright or by making it to the time limit. I actually don’t expect him to get beat here! But we’ll have to see.
