Making their in ring debut last night on AEW Dynamite, where they faced and defeated the team of Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall, we got a good look at The Butcher & The Blade. They showed they’re a damn good tag team, but we still don’t know too much about the individual members. Today we will take a deeper look at Andy Williams.
Andy Williams
The heavyweight bruiser of The Butcher & The Blade is better known in the world of music, as he is the rhythm guitarist of the metalcore/hardcore punk band Every Time I Die. They’ve put out eight albums, with their ninth album on the way. Andy Williams is a founding member alongside lead guitarist Jordan Buckley & drummer Mike Novak. They’d quickly round out with vocalist Keith Buckley and the rest is history.
His involvement in heavy metal means that anything he does in wrestling is sure to also be reported on by sites like AltPress and MetalInjection, and his involvement in that scene could bring in some viewers to AEW because of that extra reporting that his appearances will garner.
The Rise of The Butcher
Being a longtime wrestling fan, it was no shock when in 2016 Andy Williams made his in ring debut for Smash Wrestling in Canada. The same week, he powerbombed Jimmy Havoc through a table at Download Festival, where Every Time I Die was playing. The Violent Gentleman would make a name for himself across the independant circuit. Working for companies like Smash Wresling, Bar Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and Beyond Wrestling, he established himself as a tag team specialist.
In his 57 recorded matches, only 4 were singles matches, and he lost all four of them. In tag team action, he has teamed with Pepper Parks most frequently, as of course Butcher & The Blade. He has also teamed with talent like Brody King, Tyler Bateman, & Penelope Ford. His tag team win/loss record is much better than his singles record, in 53 matches since 2016, he has been on the winning side of 26 matches, and the losing side of 27 matches.
Given the increasing chemistry of Andy Williams & Pepper Parks, and the manager services of Allie aka Bunny, I feel like their winning ways in AEW will continue. The AEW tag division is highly competitive, but they are a formidable duo for anyone to face, and few men in that division can match the sheer mass of Williams. They could very well be AEW Tag Team Champions someday.
