Ladies and gentlemen, whether you realize it or not, we are at the precipice of a three-day weekend of pro wrestling PPVs. Of course WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 is this Sunday. But that’s not even close to all. The National Wrestling Alliance, which really came out of the woodwork to impress a lot of people in the fall of 2019, are returning to PPV for the first time in April tomorrow night, with their event, Into The Fire. And if that’s not enough, tonight, Ring of Honor is putting on what is nominally their biggest event of the year, the WrestleMania-equivalent if you weel, ROH Final Battle 2019!
It’s the latter that I’ll be discussing right now, as we have ten matches to look into! So let’s not waste any more time.
Street Fight: Mark Haskins vs. Bully Ray
In his year or so with Ring of Honor, Haskins has been pushed pretty steadily as one of their rising babyfaces, being part of the Lifeblood stable that was intended to be something of a conscience for ROH. It hasn’t taken off super well but has kept in the mix regardless. Issues with Bully Ray go back quite a ways, as Haskins was part of the six-man tag street fight, in which Lifeblood teamed with Flip Gordon and defeated Bully Ray, Shane Taylor and Silas Young.
This time, it’s a one-on-one Street Fight, which given Bully’s age is likely to be a whole bunch of guys hitting other with stuff. Naturally the 48-year-old legend, who really is pretty much bulletproof at this stage of his career anyway, is primarily used to put people over in this day and age. So one can only assume the mission statement is to make Haskins look as good as possible. Haskins over.
ROH Final Battle 2019 airs tonight on iPPV, 7PM CT.
