Another episode of WWE NXT went down tomorrow, WWE’s underground rebel brand. It included some heated action, perhaps none moreso than the match pitting Mia Yim against Dakota Kai. Dakota’s much talked about heel turn at NXT TakeOver WarGames came largely at the expense of Tegan Nox, but before that on-screen assault, she also took out Mia Yim backstage and forced her out of the match.
With Yim back and ready to go this week, she was quick to look for some revenge, facing off with Kai in a one-on-one match. It was a hard fought, competitive back and forth match as one would expect. Dakota showed some toughness, kicking out of Yim’s Code Blue. But her dirty tactics were quelled for a while, as she found herself unable to make use of Tegan’s kneebrace, which she’s been weaponizing to great effect in recent weeks.
However, she still managed to find a way to cheat, ripping off a turnbuckle pad and slamming Mia’s face into it, signalling a roll-up that ended up notching the victory.
This dirty victory would not go unavenged, however.
No less pissed off after the night’s proceedings, Mia attacked Dakota and the two brawled into the crowd and up into the technician’s area. This culminated with Yim hitting a back suplex that took the both of them through a table! Yannow one of those convenient ones that just kinda exist, randomly strewn about the arena for whenever someone needs a big bump!
It was a pretty bad fall for Dakota, as the back her head scraped against the side of a different table as she went through it, which seems to have caused a fairly nasty cut. She was said to have received eight staples after the match, but is currently not expected to miss any time as a result of this.
Suffice to say, this feud is not over.
