Taya Valkyrie has become one of the premiere woman of Impact Wrestling, having one of the longest reigns in company history and being positioned as a top star alongside Tessa Blanchard going forward. While she recently lost the Impact Knockouts Championship to Jordynne Grace, she is also set to be Tessa Blanchards first challenger as Impact World Champion. Many assumed that after her Knockouts Championship run ended, she would be out of the company.
Taya Valkyrie With Impact Until December 2020
Despite her very favorable position in Impact Wrestling, she was expected to follow husband John Hennigan to WWE, where he recently returned as John Morrison. Morrison was one of the top guys in Impact Wrestling prior to his leaving. It has just been revealed that her contract with Impact Wrestling was renewed in December another year.
She is able to be one of the top stars in Impact Wrestling, or potentially be lost in the shuffle in the stacked women’s divisions within WWE. The choice seems pretty simple, atleast for now. A lot could change before the end of the year, and we could see her itching to join WWE. For now, she could make history as being a future World Champion for Impact Wrestling.
Impact Wrestling Needs To Lock Down Their Stars
While Impact Wrestling has a certain stigma attached to it thanks to years of mismanagement in the past, they’ve been one of the most consistent promotions in the world for a few years now. Their big issue is one that has plagued the company for years, that being an inability to keep their top names. People like AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, James Storm, Killer Kross, Brian Cage Austin Aries, Johnny Impact, and more have all left the company after being built up as top stars.
While some like Roode & Styles had done everything possible in the company, others like Kross & Cage still felt like they could accomplish a lot with Impact Wrestling. If they wish to stay competitive in the modern wrestling landscape, securing their key players will be important. They have kept Taya, and if they are do the same with people like Tessa, Moose, and Sami Callihan, they should be in a solid position going into this year.
