Just got back in and after a short rest, I’m ready to talk about the show I just watched live! A long-awaited six-man tag match occurred tonight when the Best Friends took on the Jurassic Express! AEW Dynamite came to Southaven, MS – though largely referred to as Memphis – for their Anniversary show! A year out from the official, formal announcement of All Elite Wrestling, they put on a special show to be sure. Just half an hour away from me no less, I couldn’t help but go. Now that the show’s over though, it’s back to work for me. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you all the results from tonight’s event!
The Jurassic Express (Jungleboy, Marko Stunt & Luchasaurus) defeated the Best Friends (Trent, Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy)
The inexplicable animalistic trio of Luchasaurus, Marko Stunt and Jungleboy took on one of few teams that could compare in terms of how memetic they are, Trent, Chuckie T and Orange Cassidy. This bout stemmed from the Best Friends essentially believing that they own the rights to hugs. That’s basically the story here! Every time an image surfaced of the Jurassic Express sharing a hug in the ring, Trent and Chuckie would lambast them for stealing their gimmick.
This went on for months until finally, the logical trios bout came to be. And what a fun one it was! I’m not sure if the love for Marko Stunt was as deafening on TV as it was in my section, but I’ve never heard him be this over. It seems the various members of the Jurassic Express take turns being the ‘star’ of the team. Some places love Luchasaurus more than anyone, some go for Jungleboy. Tonight was definitely a Marko Stunt night though. Whether he was more popular than Orange Cassidy is anyone’s guess though… it was a one-of-a-kind match to be certain! Jurassic Express did ultimately pick up the duke. Bout could’ve gone either way on paper but given the response it seemed like very much the right call.
