The 2020 edition of the historic and legendary WWE Royal Rumble is coming to us here tonight! The show begins very, very soon folks! But not so soon that I can’t get these previews in! We’ve got a ton to talk about, like the titular Royal Rumble matches! And big grudge bouts, such as the Falls Count Anywhere clash that awaits Roman Reigns and King Corbin! All that and more! My name is Jordan Huie, you are visiting us at the Overtimer here as we ready for our extensive coverage of tonight’s event! We don’t have long now so let’s get to the previews!
Falls Count Anywhere Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
There’s a lot I could tell you about the story behind this match. I could go back to the source, which most people have probably about by now. I could tell you about how in the lead-up to Survivor Series, the two of them began feuding over which of them should lead SmackDown into the tri-branded elimination matches. The two of them both considered themselves co-captain of the team going into the match, but Corbin would not stop telling us about how Roman was a failure as a locker room leader and he was the true leader of SmackDown.
I could perhaps tell you about how the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, The Revival, Mustafa Ali, Shorty G and the Usos have all played a part in this story at some point or another. I could detail their TLC match at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019. Where Corbin, with the help of about a dozen men, defeated Roman Reigns on a night where for some reason absolutely nobody wanted to help him.
There’s plenty to say, but only one thing that really needs to be said. Roman Reigns’ nick name is “The Big Dog” and King Corbin finds this to be utterly hilarious. So much so that he’s gotten people to wear dog mascots with giant heads, made Roman’s CG dog logo yip like a little puppy, and of course most famously, he chained him to a post and poured bucket after bucket of dogfood over him.
The two have since had a few Loser Eats Dogfood matches on house shows. But here at the Rumble, we have a Falls Count Anywhere match. And while it’s tempting to think of this as a potential blowoff match after this feud has gone on so damn long… I actually don’t think we’re done. If we were, Roman would absolutely just beat him here… but I have a feeling about tonight. And it starts with King Corbin reigning supreme.
