Did it sneak up on you? You’re surely not the only one, but WWE Super Show-Down occurs today. It’s about two hours away as of the time of this posting. In what promises to be the end of what has felt like a very, very long feud, Roman Reigns will face King Corbin in a Steel Cage match. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and you can expect to see the results of each and every match on the show before long, plus a full preview of everything you can expect to see on the card.
I’m pretty naturally sour on these Saudi shows, and Lord knows the last one was something of a disaster, though it turned out okay in the end. Amazingly, they’re going ahead and doing this the exact same way, with the show taking place the day before SmackDown. They’re also flying via Atlas Air again ’cause why not? Only cowards learn lessons… ah well. Here’s hoping we don’t get a repeat of that fiasco. Now, that aside, let’s get onto the previews.
Steel Cage Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
Well, it took us a long, long time to get here. Except not really, in the grand scheme of things. These two have been feuding since November. I can think of plenty of feuds in wrestling right now that have been going on as long, or longer. But in WWE, with how they do things, it’s really felt like this has gone on for a year. We’ve seen these two clash in big tag matches on SmackDown seemingly every single week. And they’ve fought in singles matches time and again.
They faced each other at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 where they proved that it is possible to have a boring TLC match. They faced each other in a Falls Count Anywhere bout at the Royal Rumble where King Corbin was introduced to a port-a-potty. They’ve spilled untold gallons of dog food, including at the end of a match where the loser had to eat said dogfood, but really just got totally showered with the stuff.
We’ve genuinely had what seemed to be two false blowoffs to this feud, yet it continues. This time they’re outright telling us it will be the end. I guess we’ll see on that one. To be perfectly frank, I’m a little tired of writing about this feud. Roman Reigns to win.
