WWE Super Show-Down just kicked off. I’ll be here to give you the results, but probably not as in-depth a recap as usual. The Kickoff show match saw the OC go up against the Viking Raiders. This was very much a feud that already basically ended the month prior. It’s something of a follow-up to their last Saudi Arabian show, WWE Crown Jewel 2019, where Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson crowned themselves the best tag team in the world by last eliminating Erik and Ivar in the biggest tag team turmoil match ever.
It really does say a lot about WWE, both in how they treat their tag teams and also in how important and series these achievements really are, that the Best Tag Team In The World was put on the pre-show when they returned to Saudi Arabia some five months later. It’s a fairly sad state of affairs.
Anyway, the two teams proceeded to feud over this for the months following Crown Jewel.
They most notably faced off at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 in a match that ended in a double countout but did involve some tables of KFC at ringside. So uh, that was something. And then the rivalry just kinda petered out in January, with the Viking Raiders moving on to team with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe against Seth Rollins’ group. They lost the WWE Raw tag titles to Rollins and Murphy, and have frequently been teasing matches with the AOP.
But instead of doing anything with that, when Super Show-Down came around, the Viking Raiders were abruptly booked against the OC again. Lately Anderson and Gallows have been trading losses to Ricochet to help build him up somewhat for his WWE title match against Brock Lesnar. Their buddy AJ Styles finds himself in the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet match later on in the day.
I really would’ve figured that Erik and Ivar had this match easy given that they’re the ones who are actually set to be a solid part of Raw going forward, but WWE doesn’t tend to book based on logic… in the end, Anderson and Gallows got the victory. A missed moonsault led to a Magic Killer and that was the end of the Viking Raiders.
Winners: The OC
I can’t really imagine this will be leading to much.
