Two of the best to come out of the wrestling boom in Europe are Will Ospreay & Zack Sabre Jr. They have clashed many times in the past, including very recently in a New Japan Pro Wrestling ring, where ZSJ was able to make Ospreay pass out from pain in a vicious submission hold in a match for the British Heavyweight Championship. Ospreay refused to tap out on that occasion, and would go on to pin ZSJ in a tag team match to earn another chance at the title.
Will Ospreay Finally Wins The British Heavyweight Championship
This would come at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s High Stakes event. Both men would be back in their home country challenging for the top prize. While ZSJ was on his fourth reign, Ospreay has never held it. That is until now, as he would win the championship finally, a victory six years in the making. This match will be available on NJPW World and as part of the full High Stakes show which will be made available soon on Revolution Pro Wrestling’s own streaming service. Reports from the show indicate it was a fantastic encounter, which is not a surprise.
What Is Next For Zack Sabre Jr?
Having now lost his only championship, Zack Sabre Jr. will be doing everything to get another to hide his skinny waist. At New Beginning in Osaka, he would attack IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley who had just defeated the mentor of ZSJ in Minoru Suzuki. He would choke out the weakened champion, who had just went through an absolute war to retain his championship. This would indicate he will be the next challenger for Moxley, and with ZSJ now lacking the British Heavyweight Championship, he will be the next champion.
While Jon Moxley is an absolute treat to see in NJPW, his commitments to All Elite Wrestling prevent him from appearing overseas in the United States for NJPW, where the IWGP United States Championship should always be defended. Having Zack Sabre Jr. as the new champion would ensure that no tour of the United States would ever go without it’s key championship. ZSJ isn’t as huge as Moxley in the United States, he is still a known name due to his international fame and time in Pro Wrestling Guerilla. He also appeared in the Cruiserweight Classic for WWE.
