There has been another injury within WWE, this time to NXT UK star Tyler Bate. Bate had last competed at Worlds Collide, where he and Trent Seven faced off with #DIY in a losing effort. Following that match, he had a run in with Finn Balor. With Finn Balor making his way to NXT UK, likely to call out Bate for a match in Dublin, this reported injury has come at a terrible time. There is little word on the nature of the injury, but Bate was pulled from an Over The Top Wrestling event, Dead On, over this injury.
Will WWE Still Set Up Finn Balor vs. Tyler Bate?
Whereas Finn Balor is set to appear at the next block of NXT UK tapings, if Tyler Bate is expected to be healthy by April 26th, it would make sense to set the match up. You could manage with a taped show to work around Bate being hurt, while building up Finn Balor as a villian for him to stop in Dublin. This does come with the issue of Balor being irish and likely getting a heroes welcome if he shows up at Takeover. This would make Tyler Bate’s role as a babyface very hard to do at the event, should this planned match go through.
Is Tyler Going To NXT Soon?
As the NXT UK brand grows, many of it’s top stars have moved to NXT as they run out of things to do in the UK. We have seen this with Pete Dunne, and Grizzled Young Veterans, and Toni Storm seems to be next to move over. This opens slots for younger talent to move in, a trademark of the NXT system. Most stars on NXT UK aren’t big enough to move to RAW & Smackdown however, so NXT is the logical step up.
Tyler Bate is the inagural champion, and one of their most popular stars. All that is left there to accomplish to win the NXT UK Tag Team Championships with Trent Seven. Tyler Bate has some of the highest potential in WWE, being a wrestling prodigy with numerous classics under his belt at only 22 years old. The sky is the limit for Tyler Bate, and the ceiling in NXT UK is too low for him at this point.
