Around the middle of 2019, we would see Jeff Hardy written off TV after he would suffer a knee injury. This resulted in The Hardy Boys final tag team championship run in WWE ending with them vacating the championships. Hardy was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center as he would get back into ring shape, and was also spotted backstage at this past Fridays episode of Smackdown Live. This would indicate that upon his return, he will be appearing on the Smackdown brand. His return is coming soon. The only question is what will he be doing first?
Jeff Hardy vs. The Fiend At Elimination Chamber
While Jeff Hardy is now 41 years old, he remains the same daredevil he was in his youth. A man without fear would be a great opponent for someone like ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt, who is currently the Universal Championship. With Elimination Chamber coming up on March 8th, and the focus currently on the next Saudi Arabia event, Smackdown will have to rush a challenger for Wyatt at this PPV. Hardy would be perfect for this short feud.
If Jeff Hardy is ready to go, they would be able to quickly set the match up over the course of the next two episodes of Smackdown Live. Hardy is the type who will always get a reaction from fans, and has the aura of a champion. Combine this with his veteran status and the coming return from injury, and you have someone perfect for a quick title match before he settles into his long term role on the brand. He is someone who could suffer a major loss early into a return and it not effect his standing on the brand.
Would NXT Be Better For Jeff?
While a star like Hardy is an easy fit on any brand, his body was battered over a long career. NXT has the much easier touring schedule, and his star power could help boost the brand. His age could be used to sell his veteran status, as he takes on the future of wrestling to prove he still has what it takes. Segments with The Undisputed Era, Finn Balor and Velveteen Dream would bring out of the best of Hardy. It would be a great change of pace for the brand. NXT has felt tired and uninspired, adding a Charismatic Enigma would shake things up.
