In a situation that feels like it will repeat itself over the course of his career, Darby Allin has ended up in the hospital following a match on AEW Dynamite. Darby was involved in the main event, where he was to team with Jon Moxley to face Sammy Guevara & Chris Jericho of the Inner Circle. Moxley would be beaten down prior to the match, making it into more of a handicap match, with Darby getting brutalized.
When Would Potential Injury Have Occured?
The finish of this match would see Darby Allin perform a dive to the outside, only to be caught by Chris Jericho’s ‘Judas Effect’ elbow strike. The connection was a bit too good, and Darby was noticeably rocked following this spot. He would make a post on Twitter following the show, showing a video of a hospital waiting room with the caption ‘We meet again.’ Another tweet showed a clip of the injury with the caption ‘Still waiting to hear back when I can get in that ring. After getting my skull smashed.’
Darby had just returned from another injury, making the timing of this unfortunate. Anything can go wrong in an instant with a wrestling match, and hopefully Darby takes the time to heal up fully before returning to the ring. The severity of injury is unclear, and hopefully he won’t be out too long. Fans are eager to see him in the upcoming War Games style match, which is quickly approaching.
Darby Allin Is Building Sympathy & A Reputation
While injury is something wrestlers will always want to avoid, you can turn any negative into a positive. Darby being beaten down and always seeming to come back stronger has done a wonder on making him a fan favorite. He is building a reputation for being the toughest man in all of AEW, which is very well deserved already. Getting knocked down and getting back up again is a great way to have a babyface, and while the injuries will hopefully stop, this formula can be used to make him into a megastar.
He is in a situation where his style does not reflect a long career, so enjoy his daredevil antics while you can, as they won’t last forever. Do you think Darby needs to tone things down to maintain his health, or would that kill his character in the process? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
