WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues. We’ll be seeing Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss later on. Backstage Dolph Ziggler is on the phone talking smack on Otis when Otis in fact appears to try and attack him. Officials have to try and hold him back. Dolph tells him he wants to shame him while the whole world is watching at WrestleMania and says he’ll have Mandy Rose in his corner. Now Elias is in the arena, up in the balcony to sing a song about King Corbin called the King of Fools. As he does this a ton of lame photoshopped images of King Corbin come up on the screen behind him. His main message is that King Corbin’s throne is a toilet and he himself is a turd.
Elias poses for the supposed capacity crowd at the Performance Center. King Corbin attacks him from behind, screaming, “You think this is fun and games?!” before tossing him over the balcony railing. Elias holds on but Corbin stomps on his hand and eventually hits him with his scepter to send him falling in a rather ridiculous looking stunt. Naturally the camera doesn’t catch him falling but we do hear a very loud, totally legit “thud” sound effect and when we cut to Corbin looking down, we see Elias spread eagle on the cement. Bunch of officials swarm in to check on him.
Now, comes Asuka for her match with Alexa Bliss. Nikki Cross is with her buddy Alexa and goes over to the announce table to call the match and also torment Michael Cole.
Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka
Asuka and Alexa yell at each other to start, Bliss ducks a clothesline and poses to mock her. Bliss with a few forearms, Asuka fires up. Bliss hits the ropes, Asuka does as well, Bliss ducks a shot, standing dropkick for a 2 count! Asuka fights back, does a little dance to taunt her. Alexa dumps her from the ring and dances back. Gets her with a baseball slide, but on a second attempt Asuka evades her and tosses her into the steps. Commercial break. As we come back, Asuka is kicking the hell out Alexa. Focusing on the right arm, I think it hit the stairs. Nikki is doing her best to cheer her on.
Bliss reverses with an armbreaker onto the apron, slides in to cover for a nearfall. Asuka hits the ropes, Bliss with a kick to the leg trips her up. Asuka charges but Alexa evades in the corner. Clothesline, couple of punches with the good arm, Insult To Injury but Asuka rolls out of the way of the moonsault. Takes her outside, Alexa ducks a kick and slams her into the apron, pulls her into the ring and covers twice for nearfalls. Alexa can’t hook the leg with that arm. Out of the corner Alexa hits a Roll Through DDT for the victory.
Winner: Alexa Bliss
Well worked, fairly simple match with a neat finish. There will no doubt be people that love or hate Nikki Cross on commentary. Now they’re airing the Triple H/Roman Reigns match from WrestleMania 32.
