The WWE Hall Of Fame is becoming a bit more complete with it’s latest entrant. It has been rumored for a while, but on the After The Bell Podcast, it was finally confirmed. The legendary British Bulldog aka Davey Boy Smith will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.
A True Legend
One of the more iconic characters from his era, Bulldog left a heavy legacy in both the singles and tag divisions. As a singles star, his shining moment came at Summerslam 1992. With the event being held in the legendary Wembley Stadium in London, England, British Bulldog would wrestle a classic match with Bret Hart. He would win the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship in-front of 80 thousand fans, in what is regarded as the best match in the events history.
Beyond that one match, he is a former European Champion, and won many tag titles with his partner Dynamite Kid. He was a crucial member of the 1997 incarnation of The Hart Foundation, where he teamed with Owen Hart, Bret Hart, Brian Pillman and Jim Neidhart.
British Bulldog Is Someone Many Would Assume Was Already Inducted
Considering how well loved and remembered Bulldog is by fans and wrestlers alike, he is one person you would expect to already have been entered. This is long overdue, and something fans have wanted for years. It will likely either be his son, Davey Boy Smith Jr. or Bret Hart who will do the honor of putting Bulldog in his rightful place among his fellow legends.
Should Hall Of Fame Be A Private Event This Year?
The last few years, we have seen fans able to buy a ticket to see the Hall of Fame ceremony. With the threat of coronavirus looming, that alone could be enough to ensure it is a small and intimate event this year. Another factor that could force this was the cowardly attack on Bret Hart from last year. A fan rushed Hart during his speech remembering his longtime friend and partner Jim Neidhart. That incident had fans asking why these events were even open to the public in the first place, and could help move the Hall of Fame ceremony back to the way they used to handle it.
