The March 13th Super Viernes event by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) at Arena Mexico had a solid four-match undercard but was lacking anything that stood out beyond average.
The event opened with Diamond/Principe Daniel defeating Cholo/Difunto two falls to one in what was a decent match. While not special, it was better than most of Super Viernes’ openers mainly due to Cholo and Difunto being decent rudos who can lead undercard matches effectively. Diamond and Principe Daniel weren’t bad, but it wasn’t difficult to notice that they have a lot of room to grow.
CMLL Super Viernes March 13, Undercard Match Analysis
The following match saw Princesa Sugehit, Silueta, and Stephanie Vaquer defeat Amapola, La Infernal, and La Metalica two falls to one. Sugehit and Amapola were the captains, both being effective leaders helping lead the match in the right direction. It would be nice if CMLL did more with their luchadoras as there seems to be enough talent to build several interesting angles.
The third match saw Hechicero and two members of Los Hijos del Infierno (Luciferno/Rey Bucanero[Captain]) defeat Audaz, Rey Cometa, and Mexican National Welterweight Champion Soberano Jr (Captain) two falls to one. The match built slightly on the second match of the card but could have been better with the talent featured. As usual, Soberano Jr put on a good performance.
CMLL World Welterweight Champion Titan defeated former CMLL Wolrd Welterweight Champion Polvora in a ten-minute, single fall lightning match that was slow at some points but ended up being the best match of the event until this point. Titan continues his growth over the past two years, which has received a boost from the extensive amount of time he’s spent in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) during that period. Polvora was alright here, but it was clear that he isn’t near the dynamic performer that Titan is, yet he still has a lot to offer at 40 years old.
