Luke Harper had a rough time through WWE, constantly being pushed to the side despite crowds and fans at home wanting to see more of him. He is now out of WWE, and back to the name Brodie Lee in a major role within AEW. He is The Exalted One of The Dark Order, and is set for a main event run in the company. During an interview on the Talk is Jericho podcast, he revealed the final plan for his character within WWE.
Luke Harper Would Have Been The Muscle Of Sami Zayn
After asking Vince McMahon what the future of his career was for what would have been the final time, it seemed like he finally was getting somewhere. Vince first wondered why he wasn’t in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and placed him in that match with intent for Harper to be one of the last men standing. That was changed with him getting eliminated early, but there was an idea set to begin after Wrestlemania 35, where once again he would be helping someone else succeed.
He was going to be the heater of Sami Zayn, the same thing that his partner Erick Rowan was doing with Daniel Bryan. This never made it to TV, so we can only imagine this could have helped both men if WWE got behind it.
This Was The Last Straw For Harper
After plans fell through once again with Harper being sidelined again, he would request his release. Vince McMahon would try to keep him, offering him more money or even a push, but Harper didn’t want either at this point. He wanted out of the company, but Vince couldn’t let him go as he had just let talent like Shawn Spears & Hideo Itami go, and it would look like people were jumping ship to AEW. This lead to him just sitting home until he finally got his release, and then waiting 90 days to debut for AEW. The rest of his story is yet to be told, but for the first time things are looking bright for his career. The chains are off, and he will do everything he can to succeed.
