During this current time when most wrestling fans are staying home to help flatten the curve of Coronavirus, companies are helping to keep them entertained. We have companies like Evolve uploading matches like Velveteen Dream vs. Darby Allin and Austin Theory vs. Johnny Gargano, Impact Wrestling uploaded Lockdown 2007 in its entirety, and now New Japan Pro Wrestling has given the best free offering yet. Night one of Wrestle Kingdom 14 is completely free for anyone to watch. You will still need a NJPW World subscription to get Night Two, but this is the perfect time to start watching NJPW.
One Of The Best Shows Of The Year
Under the bright lights of the Tokyo Dome, NJPW always delivers some of their greatest shows. This year was no exception. Even running two shows, fans got an incredible show on both nights. The reception for night one was incredible, especially for matches like Kazuchika Okada vs. Kota Ibushi, Will Ospreay vs. Hiromu Takashi, Jon Moxley vs. Lance Archer, and Jay White vs. Tetsuya Naito. Those matches alone could be enough to make any show a classic, but the undercard was equally strong with great tag matches like Juice Robinson & David Finlay vs. Guerrillas of Destiny. It was a night of New Japan at their absolute best, and a great starting point for new fans, and also a great rewatch for people who already watched the show.
Will NJPW Be Back Soon?
With companies in Japan like Dragon Gate, DDT, and Stardom returning to action, it isn’t unlikely that NJPW could be back soon. Stardom & DDT are even running shows with fans again, just with wellness checks for anyone who enters the arena. Because of this, NJPW could be back in time for Sakura Genesis. They might not run big arenas as you want to remain on the side of caution, but fans would be happy to have their favorite brand back in action.
New Japan had to cancel their annual New Japan Cup tournament which was set for early March. Fans are still eager to see this tournament, but due to travel restrictions it might be best to wait until stars like Will Ospreay are able to get back to Japan to have it go as intended.
