On Monday, March 24th, fans of women’s wrestling will get a free treat as the opening round Stardom’s annual one night tournament will be free on Youtube. The 16 woman tournament is done on a single elimination format, with the win conditions being pinfall, submission, or throwing the opponent over the top rope. This makes matches often quick and unpredictable. The winner of the Cinderella Tournament gets their wish granted. Which generally translates to a title shot of some sort but it isn’t restricted purely to that.
There Will Be Fans In Attendance
The COVID-19 situation in Japan is starting to stabilize, and because of this fans are starting to be permitted at shows once again. We saw this with DDT Judgement, and there will be fans permitted for this show as well. There are precautions being taken. The Stardom twitter account has stated the following. “Fans will be allowed entry to the show, but will undergo a physical check, with their temperature taken. No entry will be allowed if temp is over 37°C (98.6°F). Masks will be distributed for free.”
This will allow fans to see some live wrestling again, provided they are healthy. We will also likely see a more appropriate seating arrangement and a smaller crowd than usual, but it is a start. Most of all, this is a light at the end of a dark tunnel for wrestling fans, things will work out in the end.
