WWE Raw Tag Team Championships: The Street Profits (c) vs. Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy
So Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy won the tag team titles by quite the surprise a couple of months ago, unseating the Viking Raiders for the gold basically out of nowhere. They won them instead of AOP, in fact, which is really a bit of a story in of itself, atleast one would think for sure it would be. Nevertheless, they held and defended them for a short time, but their reign didn’t end up lasting too long.
One week, during another group attack on Kevin Owens after another in the long series of Raw main event tag matches, the Street Profits suddenly made themselves a presence in the feud by making the save. This appearance out of nowhere earned them a shot at the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships days later at WWE Super Show-Down in Saudi Arabia. There, they lost! And losing that match earned them another shot at the tag titles on Raw! But as was announced out of the blue at the very start of that episode, if the Street Profits lost they would never get another shot at the gold again. With some help from Owens, they ended up getting the win and taking the titles.
Does it feel like I ran through a few months worth of storytelling in one paragraph there? Because yeah, that’s about apt. What could’ve atleast been stretched out to a few weeks worth of build happened in exactly seven days instead and uh, I guess now we’re getting the blowoff rubber match here on week 2? It’s a little bit absurd when you look at it like that. Just a total fast forward put on this one. Anyway, I’m gonna say Street Profits retain. Pretty clear Rollins will be having a singles match with Owens at Mania.
