WWE Monday Night Raw continues after that lengthy replay of the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match just concluded. For those wondering, yes, Drew McIntyre won again! With commercials added, a Rumble match lasts about an hour and thirty eight minutes, turns out. This parlays naturally into a replay of the segment where McIntyre laid Lesnar out with three Claymores in a row a couple of weeks ago. Now, Jerry Lawler is in the ring for the contract signing between AJ Styles and the Undertaker.
He introduces the Undertaker and man I wasn’t ready to see an Undertaker entrance with no crowd. He doesn’t bother doing the slow walk, which is certainly for the best. As the lights come on you can see he’s shirtless, wearing a bandana with his hair tied back in a ponytail, which might suggest a return to the ABA days. He storms into the ring and immediately tips the table over, Jerry Lawler scampers away in fear and hilariously we just cut to commercial abruptly.
When we come back, we learn that there was actually no contract to be signed.
That… makes very little sense, but that’s what they said. There was actually no contract there and that’s why Taker was so furious. Alright then. We get a replay of the story between Taker and AJ up to this point anyway. After the video, Undertaker is pacing the ring. He waits for a while as AJ’s music hits, but he doesn’t appear. They do the bit where the theme stops and then starts again, as if the intro just wills people out onto the stage.
We then see the OC backstage, AJ asking if Undertaker’s looking for the contract. He’s in fact holding it. AJ says it was him who challenged Undertaker for WrestleMania, notes how now we’re at the Performance Center where tons of competitors come in to try and be just like Undertaker. They note that this is not the case for them, they didn’t need no Performance Center. AJ Styles talks about Michael Jordan wouldn’t interject himself in the NBA Finals, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning don’t interject themselves into the Super Bowl but you’ll always see Undertaker around WrestleMania Season.
AJ again blames Michelle McCool for this. Tells him they’ll gladly take up his assisted living costs after WrestleMania. Also makes a snide remark on how he knows he can’t run from him. Signs the contract and then has Anderson and Gallows take it to Taker on his behalf, much to their chagrin. They begrudgingly walk out and slide the contract into the ring. They start to back away when the gong hits and the lights fall. When they come back up, Undertaker is right behind them! He throws them into the apron, shoves Anderson into the steps, pummels Gallows with stiff right hands. Throws Anderson into the barricade. Does the same with Gallows. We see occasional shots of AJ Styles watching from backstage looking annoyed. That’s about as far as I’d go to describe it.
Undertaker then walks up the ramp and stares down AJ’s visage on the screen. I was amazed he didn’t try and destroy it.
