WWE News: Alexander Wolfe Of Imperium Wins wXw Shotgun Championship

While he might have not gotten his chance to shine at Worlds Collide, Imperium member Alexander Wolfe has bounced back in a huge way. He was taken out with a concussion during Imperium vs. Undisputed Era, but was able to return to the ring shortly after. One of the most underrated workers in WWE, he would make his presence known once again in his old home of wXw, a company which has had an increasing partnership with WWE. Wolfe appeared in a three way dance for wXw also featuring Ilja Dragunov and Avalanche to become champion.

Alexander Wolfe In wXw

Westside Xtreme Wrestling is the premiere wrestling promotion in Germany, and stars like WALTER, Aleister Black & Ilja Dragnaouv made their names there. Alexander Wolfe is also someone who came through this promotion, under the name of Axel Tischer. He would hold the wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion for 293 days, defeating the likes of El Generico (Sami Zayn), Eddie Edwards and WALTER before losing it to Tommy End (Aleister Black). This alone would cement his legacy with this company, but he also previously held the wXw Shotgun Championship for 266 days.

wXw Is Changing Under WWE

Much like ICW & Progress Wrestling, wXw is linked to WWE with NXT UK. WALTER is the main link to wXw, being an iconic figure in the promotion and the man who would run their training dojo. He has remained a backstage presence in the company, and that is the reason he will likely never leave NXT UK fully. Despite this, WWE’s influence has begun to change the promotion. We no longer see the same variety of star enter the promotion, with NXT UK talent rarely showing up in the abscence. AEW stars aren’t able to be booked, and David Starr also announced he is no longer able to work for them, due to the WWE influence. This is the same situation which ruined the hype behind companies like Progress & ICW, with any major stars being signed to NXT UK, leaving smaller promotions without their biggest names.

Many view Wolfe winning the wXw Shotgun Championship as the first sign of NXT UK coming for this company next. While this could mean WALTER coming back to wrestle there more often, it means the potential loss of another promising company. Do you think wXw is doomed to be killed from within by WWE much like Progress was? Let us know in the comment section down below.
