WWE Star Mustafa Ali Pledges To Support The Workers Of Freelance Wrestling
In case you needed more proof that Mustafa Ali is one of the nicest people in all of wrestling, he has taken a huge step to supporting indie wrestling in these dark times. Ali previously donated his Saudi Arabia payday to Charity: Water, meaning that he is not exactly a surprising thing to see Ali doing.
Mustafa Ali Is Going To Cover The Pay For A Freelance Wrestling Event
It is important to remember where you roots are, and Mustafa Ali like many came from the Independent Wrestling scene. In 2016, he spent the bulk of the year working for Freelance Wrestling out of his hometown of Chicago. Because of this link, he has chosen to help support them in this time of need.
In a post on Twitter, he announced these intentions saying the following. “Scary times only exist when you feel like you’re on your own. I’ll be donating to cover all of the performers pay for the 1st event. I encourage anyone that is in the position to do so, please donate and allow these incredible artists to perform for you. Freelance Wrestling is home.”
This is an incredible move to see someone do, and follows in the steps of Jon Moxley helping to support the talent of Over The Top Wrestling with a donation to their GoFundMe in support of the cancelled Scrappermania event.
Will Ali Be The First Of Many To Help Pitch In From WWE?
Wrestlers have friends at all levels in the sport. While WWE superstars have made it to a high peak in the industry, they might still have friends working to make their name on the independent circuit, or have companies that were pivotal in their rise. Ali is someone who will always do what he can to help, in any way he can, but surely he isn’t the only one in the locker room helping in this way. He very well could just be the only one to do this publicly, to help goad others into doing the same, but sometimes we don’t know what happens behind closed doors.
Companies like WWE, AEW, and NJPW will be fine in the short term of closures of events, while small companies suffer. Do whatever you can in these trying times to help the small companies you love, as this is when they need your support. Buy a t-shirt, order some DVD’s support indie wrestling.
