Last night on the RAW after Wrestlemania, we saw someone jump from Smackdown Live to Monday Night RAW. This was Apollo Crews, a man who has been struggling for years to find his place on the WWE roster. Ever since he left NXT before he was truly ready, he has been working to find a role that suits him. His closest chance at success before now came as part of Titus Worldwide, but is he finally set for singles success within WWE?
An Impressive Showing Against Aleister Black
In his first match back to Monday Night RAW, he showed up in a fantastic match against the dominant Aleister Black. Fresh off a win on Wrestlemania 36 against Bobby Lashley, Crews would take Black to the limit with his perfect combo of power, speed and technique. The lethal dutch striker was able to overcome the assault and hit Black Mass for a victory in a near 30 minute clash. Due to the sheer length of this match and the level of competition we always get from Black, it was possibly the best match of Crews tenure in WWE. If you need to restart your career in a big way, taking one of the rising stars on RAW to the limit is a great way to do so.
Apollo Crews Was Sick Of Losing On Smackdown Live
During his recent run on Smackdown Live, the most notable thing that Crews did was be the punching bag of the returning Sheamus. He lost match after match to The Celtic Warrior, realizing each time that something just wasn’t working for him. These matches would barely go a minute, and those were his first matches on TV in months. While these losses were crushing in the moment, they could be a long term benefit for Crews if his performance against Black is any indication. This is a new more focused Crews, and if he is able to continue down this path, his future is bright.
Will Crews Be In Money In The Bank?
The next time WWE comes to PPV will be for Money In The Bank in early May. With that going to be a huge chance for many superstars given the limited roster of WWE, we could see Crews get the biggest chance of his career at that event. Giving the briefcase to someone as hungry for success and physically gifted as Crews could make for a dangerous threat for any champion.
