Former 2x Lucha Libre AAA (AAA) Cruiserweight Champion, 2x AAA World Tag Team Champion, and 1x IMPACT Wrestling X-Division Champion Extreme Tiger faced El Mariachi Loco in the third match during Pro Wrestling Revolution’s (PWR) event in February. Mariachi Loco gained a measure of exposure as a member of the Lucha Underground (LU) roster for several seasons.
Unlike most of the other matches on Pro Wrestling Revolution events, Mariachi Loco and Extreme Tiger used technical chain wrestling to slowly build the match. Mariachi Loco showed impressive ability when matched with an accomplished professional wrestler. Loco did not look overmatched when exchanging keys and locks with Tiger, who is accomplished in the llave stye.
The pace picked up slowly throughout the match, with the crowd responding when Extreme Tiger and Mariachi Loco began opening up their offense and taking more risks. Loco would eventually capture the upset after hitting Extreme Tiger with a Springboard Guillotine Legdrop.
This match is for those who enjoy matches where it feels the wrestlers are thinking about the best strategy as the match progresses, and are a fan of technical wrestling. By this performance, both showed they are worthy of further booking opportunities once COVID-19 has been flattened.
While Extreme Tiger is nearly 40, several wrestlers have shown that quality performance can last well past the landmark including Minoru Suzuki, Yuji Nagata, Satoshi Kojima, Lance Archer, Dustin Rhodes, and Tomohiro Ishii.
Mariachi Loco has the charisma and in-ring ability to thrive in many roles in modern wrestling if he receives another opportunity similar to Lucha Underground, it’s same to assume that he is prepared to make the most of it.
The style was different from the Pro Wrestling Revolution Flamita/Puma King match, but it met a similar level of quality.
