Impact Wrestling is set to run a two night special in the place of their now cancelled Rebellion PPV, with the planned matches still happening. Instead of it being a PPV, it will just be two special episodes of their weekly TV show. The main event of Night One is a cross generational match, as Sami Callihan will face Ken Shamrock.
This comes after Sami Callihan previously stated he would not be wrestling again during the COVID-19 outbreak. What has changed the former World Champions mind, and had him at the Nashville based tapings for Impact Wrestling?
Sami Callihan Speaks On The Conditions Impact Wrestling Has Provided
While he didn’t go into great detail on the steps Impact Wrestling took to provide a safe work enviroment, Sami Callihan mentioned this during an interview with Sports Illustrated. Callihan said the following after being asked what changed his mind. “The reason that I was 100% OK with doing that was because Impact took amazing care of us.
From the time we got there to the time we left, I knew no one from our crew was going to be in any danger. Impact took every precaution to make sure our television taping was the safest television taping going on right now. I put my entire trust in Impact management to make sure we all get taken care of. I’ve wrestled for every major wrestling company on the planet, and Impact Wrestling truly is a family. I know it’s crazy to think how many ‘families’ there are in this crazy world, but our entire locker room and our entire staff took care of each other so we could all be safe.”
Impact Wrestling has gotten some very positive press as of late, from properly paying their employees and taking care of them. Ethan Page previously spoke on all employees being paid for their events, even with them being cancelled to ensure they can afford to feed their families. They also paid local promoters who were to do joint shows with Impact Wrestling the full amount intended.
Other matches on Impact Wrestling Rebellion include a triple threat match between Tessa Blanchard, Eddie Edwards & Michael Elgin, Ace Austin vs. Willie Mack, and Jordynne Grace vs. Taya Valkyrie in Full Metal Mayhem.
