Out of all the releases from WWE recently, one has the most potential to succeed outside of the company. While you might think it would be someone like Rusev or EC3 who could be main event stars anywhere they’ve been, it is someone who changed the game of professional wrestling. He has spent time as the most popular man in WWE, with fans chanting his name loudly even when he wasn’t on the show. This is Zack Ryder.
Zack Ryder Is A Trailblazer In Social Media
Back in 2011, Zack Ryder launched a Youtube channel called Z! True Long Island Story to try to raise his stock in the WWE. This was well before anyone was using the platform to make their name, almost a decade before series like Being The Elite did the same thing to raise the stock of the men involved. The series was a huge success for Ryder, getting rave reviews, causing him to become a top merchandise seller, and had fans chanting ‘We Want Ryder’ loudly on PPV. This didn’t lead to the major push it should have, with WWE not wanting to push someone who’s success wasn’t because of them. He had some highlights like winning the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania, but he still spent most of his career in the under card.
A Chance To Prove He Is Just Getting Started
At only 34 years old and always being in perfect shape, Zack Ryder will still have a promising career ahead of him outside of WWE. A very good in ring wrestler with impressive charisma, combined with an excellent mind for what will get people interested in him makes him a very adaptable wrestler. Many won’t know what to expect from Ryder outside WWE, as he has went many years without an actual showcase match. People are going to be very surprised by what they see.
One Of The Few To Be On The Radar Of AEW
While in a perfect world, AEW could sign every person who was released from WWE and add them to their roster, that is not the world we are in. Despite this, we could see Zack Ryder join their ranks in some capacity. He is a long time friend of Cody Rhodes, who posted a lengthy message on Instagram in response to the release of Ryder. “I have a little rule, and that’s that if you’ve ever “gotten over” in wrestling…you can always do so again. That rule being fully applicable to Matt now. At 34 years young, his best wrestling days are ahead of him. Cheers to a great start and 14 years of unrelenting blood, sweat, and tears. Future endeavors are limitless when you actually endeavor.”
