Back in NXT, Lars Sullivan was a very promising monster for WWE. He was a freakish being, looking like he belonged in a horror movie set in the deep south of the United States. However he was also intelligent and calculated, a different type of monster heel for WWE. He failed to gain the NXT Championship before leaving the brand despite getting a 5 star performance along the way, and he was set for big things on RAW & Smackdown. That all went wrong for Sullivan however.
Lars Sullivan Didn’t Get His Wrestlemania Debut
If rumors are to be believed, Lars Sullivan was going to be essentially shot to the moon for WWE. He was intended to debut at Wrestlemania and face off with John Cena. This was however scrapped, due to Lars Sullivan getting overly anxious and shutting down, unable to perform. While the big stage could have been the reason, it was also around this time that his internet past was dredged up. Racist, homophobic and all around awful posts from bodybuilding forums were brought to the public eye after being discovered, with the most deadly to a WWE career being lewd comments made about Stephanie McMahon, aka his bosses daughter.
Despite this, he would be able to make his debut as a monster heel, tearing through people like Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, R-Truth, and the entire Lucha House Party. His run would be cut short due to injury, which he has yet to return from. While out injured, his past with gay porn was found, which was highlighted due to his past homophobic comments.
Will He Get His Chance To Come Back?
With WWE in a rough place financially, and major cuts announced within the company, a failed experiment with the amount of baggage of Lars Sullivan might be a high candidate to be cut from the roster. He was projected to return to the ring soon, but that might be for another company should WWE decide he isn’t worth the effort. There is always another potential monster heel waiting in the shadows, and they might run a background check next time. Do you think Lars Sullivan got a rough run of luck that ruined his WWE career, or was it all his own doing? Will he get the chance to return?
