The main event of this weeks episode of NXT was going to be between Finn Balor & Velveteen Dream. Balor would be taken out before the show could begin, with his whereabouts unknown. Dream would protest this to open the show, but Adam Cole would confront him. Undisputed Era attacked, NXT North American Champion Keith Lee ran in to make the save. This set up a new main event where Adam Cole & Roderick Strong would face Keith Lee & Velveteen Dream.
Keith Lee Taken Out, Velveteen Dream Left Alone
Action started quick once all four men were in the ring, with Bobby Fish being in the corner of Undisputed Era. Velveteen Dream would go right after Adam Cole as Keith Lee would be charged by Roderick Strong. Strong would take a Grizzly Magnum chop as Bobby Fish lured Dream up the ramp after picking the leg of Dream. Fish would be thrown out of the arena, but on the other side of the ring Damien Priest has crept up behind and attacked Keith Lee with his night stick, hitting him twice in the throat, enough to even take out Keith Lee. This would remove Lee from this match before it could really begin.
With Lee now out of the picture, this would take the shape of a handicap match. Dream was facing down the most lethal members of Undisputed Era alone, and was being picked apart. He had the chance to back out of the match when Lee would fall, but having finally gotten a match with Adam Cole, that wasn’t an option. Dream would fight valiantly, but two on one is not great odds. Any time he would get any offense, it would be shut down quickly. This beat-down would continue, until help would arrive from an unlikely source.
Dexter Lumis Enters The Match
Who knows how long he was looming before he joined the match, but the chilling Dexter Lumis found his way in the corner of Dream. No one saw him come, but the referee wouldn’t tell him to leave, effectively making him the partner of Dream. The only issue that the ref had with all this was Lumis was not holding the tag rope. Adam Cole would make his way in as Dexter Lumis officially hit the ring and faced off with the NXT Champion himself. A series of strikes from Lumis would pick apart both members of Undisputed Era, quickly showing he came to his match with purpose. Lumis would demolish both Cole & Strong, placing Cole in the perfect position for Dream before they executed a perfect blind tag, with Lumis taking out Strong at ringside with a flipping senton. Dream would hit the Purple Rainmaker, and pin the NXT Champion.
This was one of the most bizarre main events in NXT history, but now that he has pinned Adam Cole, Dream truly has a claim to the NXT Championship. There are many questions to be answered about the involvement of Dexter Lumis. Why is he targeting Undisputed Era? How did he have perfect chemistry with Dream? Does Velveteen Dream deserve a title shot now? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
