It has been a tragic few days for many in the wrestling industry, as the hunt for the body of Shad Gaspard was searched for. The former WWE Superstar known for his tag team with JTG, Cryme Tyme, was at the beach with his wife and 10 year old son. While in the water, a strong riptide would but lifes in danger. Lifeguards were on the scene, but Shad demanded they save his son from danger before him. They complied, and that would be the last time Shad would be seen alive. He would be pulled under the water, prompting the search for his body. This morning, that ended when his body would wash up on the beach.
Shad Gaspard Is A True Hero
Some say that your last moments are what people can remember most, and that is how Shad deserves to be remembered. Not as a wrestler, not as a stunt man, but as a hero and a father. He did what any parent would do, and put his childs safety ahead of his own. This final heroic act ensured his legacy will live on in more ways than one.
It was also not the only time Shad proved to be an incredibly brave and selfless man. In 2016, Shad would but his life at risk when he stopped an armed robbery at a Coral Springs, Florida based Gas Station. An intoxicated man came in with a gun intent to rob the store, but Shad would step in, get control of the gun and restrain the robber until police could arrive.
He Deserves The Warrior Award
While the WWE Hall Of Fame has been a hotly contested subject in recent days, there is one aspect that is hard to be cynical about. That is the Warrior Award. Named after The Ultimate Warrior, it is awarded to people who didn’t show bravery in the ring, but outside of the ring. Shad had done both, being a part of a popular tag team and remaining a hero until his final days. The outcry of love and support from everyone in wrestling shows that no one has anything bad to say about Shad as a person, friend or worker. WWE has yet to have their Hall Of Fame ceremony this year, and that would be a way to honour this man.
