CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here and there’s nothing like kicking off a new theme week with some fun throwback spoilers. We’ve had some great week so far, and this one looks to be just as entertaining as we get to spend some quality time with the Abbotts.
The premiere family in Genoa City, the Abbotts have been the archrival of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) since the first day he stepped foot into the city to build his empire. Through the years, they’ve had some memorable moments to rival the Newmans, as well as entertain us more than may have been expected.
Originally airing on January 11, 1991, this episode features Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) marrying her longtime love, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont).

Match made in heaven
While there are pluses and minuses to each marriage, and there were a few negatives about this one, it was one of the sweetest they had and was a real feel good story. It’s a great story as Brad started as the Abbott’s landscaper. Because of Traci’s love for him, he was given a chance that many wouldn’t as John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) added him to the sales line at Jabot Cosmetics.
It was an entry level position, but Brad took the opportunity by the horns and quickly increased Jabot’s sales by leaps and bounds, earning him a place in John’s heart as well as Traci’s, albeit for different reason.
Not one to allow the day to end without an additional high point, John appointed Brad as the head of sales for Jabot as a wedding gift. Or so it can be seen as that. Brad had some interesting shoes to fill as he replaced the Abbott black sheep, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
What are the chances this would end happily ever after?
Nikki’s struggle
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has established herself as one of the strongest women on daytime television, and has survived just about every challenge thrown her way. In this case, she’s in the midst of alcoholism.
This is a common theme in every show, as seeing strong people struggle and eventually overcome addiction and other problems helps give others dealing with something similar hope. They’re a beacon for those lost in their own troubles.
It also gives the actors and actresses the chance to strut their stuff and pull us in and drag us along with them for the ride. Especially when we don’t want to.
This is just one of the reasons CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers view this as a must watch episode, and one we never get tired of watching.
