After Charlotte Flair would ruin the singles match between Rhea Ripley & Io Shirai on NXT TV earlier this week, the direction for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: In Your House was clear. Charlotte Flair has already beaten Rhea Ripley. She has taken Io Shirai to her limits. Now, she will face them both in a huge triple threat match.
Potential Takeover Main Event
While some fans have been complaining about how prominent Charlotte Flair has been on WWE programming as of late, her consistency has been appreciated. Her matches and promos have been excellent, and add in the phenomenal talents of Ripley & Shirai and this match has main event written all over it.
The other announced match for this show is Karrion Kross vs. Tomassao Ciampa, which while it should be incredible doesn’t feel like a main event yet. Other expected matches include Keith Lee vs. Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Championship, Lorcan & Burch vs. Imperium for the NXT Tag Team Championships, and Adam Cole vs. Dexter Lumis for the NXT Championship. Out of all these options, nothing feels as much like a main event as Flair vs. Ripley vs. Shirai.
Will Charlotte Flair Be Able To Leave With Her Championship?
While she has proved to be one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world, this might be her greatest challenge yet. Rhea Ripley despite being a rookie by comparrison took her to the limit at Wrestlemania 36, and now knows how Charlotte works. Io Shirai also took Charlotte to the limit in their recent title match on NXT, with Charlotte forcing a DQ to keep her title. Charlotte will have no champions advantage going into this match. She can’t force a DQ if backed into a corner, and she doesn’t even have to be beaten to lose the championship.
Most fans want any result that involves Charlotte not being champion. It doesn’t matter if that is Rhea Ripley redeeming her Wrestlemania loss, or Io Shirai finally getting her time in the spotlight of NXT. Who do you hope to see walk away with the NXT Women’s Championship from NXT Takeover: In Your House? Will The Queen continue to reign, or will we see a new champion?
