In NXT, no one has stolen more shows that Johnny Gargano. With classics against Adam Cole, Andrade, Finn Balor, Kassius Ohno, Tomassao Ciampa, Ricochet, Velveteen Dream and more in the rear-view mirror, he is set to remain in NXT for the foreseeable future and remain a cornerstone of the brand. However, like most people in WWE, he has a list of people he wants to compete against in the future outside of the brand.
Johnny Gargano And His List
Gargano spoke with ViBe & Wrestling about various topics in a recent interview, including his change in character within NXT and where he gets inspiration for. Among the discussion, he would list off three men who he would love to wrestle in the future. “I have my top three. We’re going with people outside of NXT and bring them to NXT because I work Wednesday’s. I will say top three on my list are Seth Rollins, I will say AJ Styles, and I will say Daniel Bryan. They know where I am on Wednesday’s, so if they would like to come to NXT and try their luck against Johnny Wrestling, I would love for those three to come and hang out for a little bit.”
These are three of the best wrestlers in the company, and all of which would have some absolute classics if they stepped into the ring with Johnny Gargano. It also isn’t unbelievable that they could come to NXT, as all have some history with the brand.
Looking Into Each Mans NXT History
Daniel Bryan was of course part of the first season of NXT, back when it was a game show and not a serious brand. He has challenged Adam Cole for the NXT Championship however, in one of his best matches in recent memories and one of the greatest Smackdown main events of the 2010’s. Daniel Bryan has never wrestled within Full Sail University, but did commentary there for the Cruiserweight Classic.
Seth Rollins was the first star built within NXT upon it’s rebranding. While he was a former Ring Of Honor Champion, he got the attention he deserved when he became the first ever NXT Champion before forming The Shield and becoming one of the biggest stars in all of WWE. No stranger to the brand or it’s current stars, he also faced Adam Cole for the NXT Championship in 2019, and could always pop back down to retest his skills.
Finally AJ Styles, the man with the least history with the brand. Due to his star power, he jumped NXT alongside Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows when he made his debut back in 2016. Despite this, he has wrestled for the brand, when alongside Gallows & Anderson he faced off against an elite team of Keith Lee, Matt Riddle & Tommaso Ciampa in a match that ended in a No Contest. NXT might be beneath Styles, but as he winds his career down, a small run of matches could be in order.
Do you think any of these men will have a run in NXT, much like how Charlotte Flair is right now? Will they ever face Johnny Wrestling himself? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
