All Elite Wrestlings next PPV is quickly approaching, as Double Or Nothing is set for May 23rd, and the card is starting to take form. We will see matches like Jon Moxley vs. Brodie Lee for the AEW Heavyweight Championship, Cody Rhodes vs. Lance Archer for the TNT Championship, and a six man ladder match to decide a number one contender for the AEW Heavyweight Championship, with current entrants being Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin & Colt Cabana. Add in a title defense from Nyla Rose, and it will be a great show. However, notable by his absence from the card is Kenny Omega. He is one half of the AEW Tag Team Champions with Hangman Page, who is staying away from the ring during the COVID-19 crisis to protect his children. What does this mean for Kenny Omega at Double Or Nothing?
Defending The AEW Tag Team Championships With A Stand In Partner
While Hangman Page is not around, there are others who Kenny could team with to defend the titles. This would be similar to the situation in WWE NXT, where Matt Riddle is teaming with Timothy Thatcher while Pete Dunne is stuck in the UK. Omega could team with Matt Hardy again, after they built chemistry during their No DQ match with ‘Le Sex Gods’ Sammy Guevara & Chris Jericho. There is also Micheal Nakazawa, Kenny Omegas long time partner from the DDT promotion in Japan. A far off possibilty comes in Chuck Taylor of Best Friends, who would team with Kenny Omega in Pro Wrestling Guerilla in the past as ‘Men Of Low Morale Fibre’.
Bringing in a replacement partner would also help add to the tension between Omega & Page, who both seem close to turning on the other, with that being shown after their classic match with the Young Bucks at Revolution.
Kenny Omega Could Defend The AAA Mega Championship
If they feel like waiting on Hangman Page to return to defend the AEW Tag Team Championships, there is another title for Omega to defend. He is the current reigning AAA Mega Champion, and has defended it against Sammy Guevara & Jake Evans in AEW so far. With the former champion Rey Fenix back in AEW, we could see him challenge Omega to try to reclaim the title in what would be a show-stealing match.
