The writing is on the walls for two 205 Live originals in the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. Both Jack Gallagher & Tony Nese were unable to make it to the finals, with Nese losing all three of his matches, and Gallagher only beating Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott due to an attack from Nese. Their issue stretches back to the 10 Man Tag from two months ago, where Nese would be elimated thanks to a distraction from his own partner in Gallagher. Nese got revenge when he beat down Gallagher during a match between Gallagher & Oney Lorcan. Who would come out the victor with them finally clashing in the ring?
Tony Nese Gets Early Control With Submissions
They would lock up hard to start, with the powerful Nese pushing Gallagher into the corner before the referee broke the situation up. Gallagher would come back with an armbar, but Nese would counter out and take Gallagher down into a leg lock. Fighting out with some ground & pound, Gallagher would free himself and hit some hard strikes which would send Nese to the outside to regroup. Gallagher would yell at Byron Saxton on commentary to talk about him instead of Nese, before driving Nese into the corner of the ring as he re-entered. A toss to the other side of the ring would allow an elbow of Nese to meet the face of Gallagher, changing the momenteum in this match.
A springboard moonsault off the top rope allowed him to dodge a charging Gallagher, and some quick athletics would help with further evasion before Nese would hit a series of signature strikes, ending with a leg trip for a near fall. As soon as Gallagher kicked out, he would be trapped in a headlock and have to fight to his feet. Coming off the ropes he would counter a lariat attempt into a Crucifix Pin for a near fall.Nese would get back up and attempt a Tilt-A-Whirl Slam, but would lose grip of Gallagher leading to little to no impact. A hard throw into the turnbuckle would shift the ring and send Gallagher to the outside, and the second he was back in the ring he would be slammed into the mat before being locked in a tight body scissors.
The Pace Quickens With Jack Gallagher In Control
Gallagher would once again punch his way out, only to be taken down again, this time being loccked in a Boston Crab in the middle of the ring. Using his technical skills Gallagher would fight out, and try to pick the pace up, but the fight would lead to the outside and Nese would be driven into the barricade.
Back in the ring, Gallagher would get a one count but maintain arm control to deliever some hard kicks. Nese would get back to his feet and muscle up Gallagher, but his opponent would slip out and hit a headbutt to the ribs of Nese. Gallagher would get a throat chop as a reciept, before having the throat driven over the top rope, and Nese would then go for a springboard moonsault, getting a two count. Gallagher would attempt a sunset flip when he was vertical again, only to be caught and driven headfirst into the mat for another near fall.
Tony Nese would look to hit the Running Nese, but Gallagher countered with a stiff headbutt to the chest. The Gentlesman Dropkick would be dodged, with Nese attempting a roll up powerbomb only for Gallagher to slip out and find an opening to hit a stiff rolling forearm for the win.
These past two wins have put Jack Gallagher back in the running for a shot at the NXT Cruiserweight Championship down the line. Tony Nese continues to slip further away from the top of the division.
