At AEW Double Or Nothing, Hikaru Shida took her rightful place as AEW Women’s Champion, beating Nyla Rose in the best match the division has seen yet. Since then, she has yet to defend the title, but challengers are mounting. Penelope Ford pinned her in a tag match, and tonight Red Velvet would get a chance to shoot themselves up the rankings.
Hikaru Shida Very Well Could Be Unstoppable
While she lacks the size of previous champ Nyla Rose, Shida is proving to be as dominant competitor as they come. Before the match, Ford would call out Shida at ring side and take a shot at Shida. She’d almost get a kendo stick to the face, but Shida decided to bottle this aggression. It would be released as the bell rang, and she’d speed across the ring with a high knee before putting Red Velvet away with a Falcon Arrow.
This was one of the fastest wins in AEW history, and Shida would get right back to Penelope Ford after this dominant display.
Shida Would Brawl With Penelope Ford
Rushing to ringside, Shida would blindside Ford with a forearm before jumping the barricade and attacking her further. She’d be stopped by Ricky Starks & Kip Sabian, as well as the referee. Her temper was flaring, and would drop Kip Sabian with a single strike too. Ricky Starks would hold her away, but Ford came in and got a strike. The situation would finally conclude with these two still ready to keep going, if Ford had her gear they very well might have had the title match right here.
These two are set to clash at Fyter Fest, and that might could end up being about as long as the match with Red Velvet. Penelope Ford will have to come prepared for the match of her career if she wants to unseat Shida.
