Yesterday we reported on a match being removed from AEW Dark. Independent wrestler Clutch Adams was set to have a chance to prove himself against Shawn Spears, but his match was removed from the broadcast. This was due to racist and homophobic tweets from his account in 2013 being brought to the attention of people like Cody Rhodes. His match was removed from the episode, and he would delete his Twitter. Today there are two updates, one being the apology from Adams, and the second being the new match between Christi Jaynes & KiLynn King.
Clutch Adams Apologizes On Twitter
Having restored his account, Adams would go into damage control mode. The full apology can be found right here. His explanation on the comments was the following. “When I wrote those original tweets seven years agom I was a 20-year old kid. I was trash-talking friends about a football game on Twitter. At that point, in time, I was ignorant to the pain those words could cause people. In 2013, it was meant to be locker room trash talk that I felt was OK to use in that content. Now, I know differently, I am not a hateful person today. I was stupid and ignorant. Plain and simple, no excuses.”
Despite this apology, a replacement match has always been selected. This match between Adams & Spears will still likely never be aired, and Clutch might never be used in AEW again. There are simply many more wrestlers that can do what he can, and it doesn’t make sense to use someone with this baggage.
Chrisiti Jaynes vs. KiLynn King Will Air In It’s Place
In a rare move, we will be seeing a match between two unsigned talent on AEW Dark. Unsigned talents are commonly seen, but they are always involved with more established talents. At the time of writing, neither of these women are part of the AEW roster. Christi Jaynes recently had a good showing against AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida, so news could break that she is now on the roster.
Do you accept the apology of Clutch Adams? Do you think Christi Jaynes is going to be officially added to the AEW Women’s Division? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
