Impact Wrestling Newest Slammiversary Main Event Set

Heading into the next Impact Wrestling PPV, the main event was going to be huge. It was to be a five way match for the Impact Heavyweight Championship, then held by Tessa Blanchard. Upon her release from the company, it became a four way for the now vacant championship. Ace Austin, Trey Miguel, Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin would all clash for the championship, and then Elgin also got released from the company. However, it will still be a four way match. Austin, Trey & Edwards will all be involved, alongside a mystery opponent set to debut or return at the event. With so many names teased to show up for Impact Wrestling at the show, two stand out as potential entrants in this match.

EC3 Making His Impact Wrestling Return

The only way to describe the WWE run of EC3 is depressing. After a promising debut in NXT, where he was part of the excellent ladder match to crown the first ever North American Champion, and had a fun feud with The Velveteen Dream, he’d be sent to the WWE Main Roster. If you don’t recall this happening, I don’t blame you one bit. Despite having the look and skillset to thrive on these shows, with his strong microphone skills and charisma, he was barely used.

He had some matches with Dean Ambrose who was on his way out of the company, and that was all of note that he did. Now out of WWE once again, EC3 is looking to make a splash once again in the company where he was made into a star. He’s already held the Impact Heavyweight Championship on a few occassions, so he’s an easy name to slip into this match.

What’s Rusev Doing In The Impact Zone?

A much bigger star than EC3 ever was in WWE, Rusev was perhaps the biggest name when it came to the recent WWE releases. A man who should have been WWE Champion due to sheer popularity alone, Rusev was teased by a Bulargian flag in a teaser for Slammiversary. One of the better agile powerhouses in wrestling today, he will be a main eventer anywhere he lands, especially in Impact Wrestling. He’d be the absolute perfect replacement for Elgin in this match, and a huge get for Impact Wrestling. Many feel he’s bound for All Elite Wrestling instead, but we will simply have to wait and see.
