It has been a very interesting year in the life of Tessa Blanchard. She started the year on an absolute high, being in an intense feud with the top stars of Impact Wrestling in Brian Cage & Sami Callihan. She’d step up to Callihan, and walk away as the Impact Heavyweight Champion. This was a history making moment, as she became the first woman to win a major companies top prize.
The victory parties wouldn’t last long, as she’d be called out for being a racist on Twitter by her peers, with a situation where she called someone a slur and spat on them being held against her. This would ultimately be her downfall, as Impact would cut her for this and other backstage behaviour, while she was still Impact Heavyweight Champion. However, this hasn’t stopped people from being interested her as a free agent.
Tessa Blanchard Is Already Getting Offers
Even with her backstage flaws, it’s being reported that Tessa has already been getting attention from several companies following her release earlier this week. She has history with both the major players in the United States, having been in the Mae Young Classic for WWE and appeared at All In, the prototype event for AEW. It wasn’t stated who was interested, but only two companies besides Impact are in business right now.
WWE are currently looking to clear their roster of ‘problematic’ wrestlers to help their image, and given the year that Tessa has had, she might not be the best fit. A racist bully fits well in the WWE system, but not when the magnifying glass is pointed right at them.
They did just lose both Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch however, so they could bring her in to boost the RAW Women’s Division star power, as her name carries weight. She was turned down in the past due to attitude issues by WWE, but they’re keen on second chances if the price is right.
AEW Could Be The Best Home For Tessa
While WWE is the bigger stage, Tessa needs someone who can atleast try to reign her in. If anyone can do that, it’s her father and wrestling legend, Tully Blanchard, who is involved with AEW. Add in past co-workers like Santana, Ortiz, and Brian Cage, and it’d be an easier transition for Tessa.
The only snag comes in that AEW are also doing their best to distance themselves from problematic wrestlers, even sending Sammy Guevera to sensitivity training recently. Tessa could join him, and debut as an instant threat to Hikaru Shida however, something needed with Baker & Statlander injured.
