Following Jack Gallagher & Ligero, we have now seen ‘The Kiwi Buzzsaw’ Travis Banks released from WWE. Like the other two, he was implicated in the #SpeakingOut movement. First reported by John Pollock of POST Wrestling, it has been confirmed despite WWE not making a public statement at the time of writing.
Travis Banks Had An Emotionally Abusive Relationship With A 17 Year Old Trainee
The case of what got Banks fired is much more open and closed. He was dating UK Wrestler Millie Mackenzie, while she was underaged and a trainee of his. He would admit this in an apology on Twitter, saying the following. “I’d like to issue a statement regardling Millie McKenzie’s comments.
Millie was a trainee of mine at Fight Club: Pro. She was also a close personal friend. We would be at shows together, attend the same social events, travel together and hang out at wrestlers house where I was living. It was through this friendship a consensual relationship was formed.
The relationship broken down between both parties and it ended. After it ended we agreed to talk it out. We apologized to eachother for any individual actions behind the relationship breakdown. After seeing these comments, I can only repeat my apology. I am truly sorry for any pain caused by the relationship.”
He convinently left out the fact that Millie was only 17 while they were dating, which is a pretty crucial given he’s in his 30’s. This relationship was illegal due to him being her teacher, thus holding a position of trust. Millie Mackenzie has made her evidence very clear on Twitter.
Banks Was Another Small Fish For WWE To Fry
Much like Ligero & Gallagher, this is not a release that will harm WWE in the long run. Banks did have potential championship potential, having some excellent matches with NXT Crusierweight Champion Jordan Devlin over the title. He was a previous Progress Wrestling champion, and in time could have become NXT UK Champion. All this is now moot, as he will likely never find his way back in WWE. His contract should be given to Millie Mackenzie, who is one of the best in the UK and very close friends with Pete Dunne.
