While it has since moved beyond just the UK, the #SpeakingOut movement got it’s start within the once thriving UK wrestling scene. With so many people getting implicated in this movement, it was only natural that talent from NXT UK would be mentioned as well. Jordan Devlin, Joe Coffey, Travis Banks, and Ligero were amongst the men mentioned, with Banks & Ligero being released from the roster. 205 Live’s Jack Gallagher was also cut.
The problem likely runs deeper on the UK side of the roster, and put alongside not being able to run shows, this first expansion brand for NXT could be dead.
NXT UK Talent Can Be Placed Elsewhere
While it would mean moving to America, specifically Florida, we could see the remaining talent of NXT UK moved to NXT. We’ve seen people like Pete Dunne & Grizzled Young Veterans move there with great success, and people like WALTER, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, Noam Dar and more would have just as much success over in America. Their deep women’s division with talent like Isla Dawn, Kay Lee Ray, Toni Storm, Jinny, Aoife Valkyrie, and Piper Niven would would enrich the already stacked division.
This would give more established names on the NXT roster a chance to move up, and set up Unification Matches for the various championships. We’d likely see a large amount of undercard talent from NXT UK released, which would also help to enrich the UK scene as they try to rebuild.
NXT UK Still Has Chances Of Survival
Due to WWE being a powerhouse in the industry, and there likely being an attendence boom once sporting events reopen. This could help the often dwindling attendence of NXT UK, and another big Takeover event or two could help turn the opinion of the scene once again. Takeover: Dublin is unlikely to happen in 2020, but people will still want to see Balor vs. WALTER whenever possible.
By removing the bad eggs in the group, and focusing on your big names like WALTER and the fantastic women’s division, they could push on and prove they deserve to remain a part of the wrestling industry while doing what wrestling is meant to do, entertain the fans.
