Jack Gallagher is no longer part of WWE, but despite the ‘Live’ in 205 Live, the show was taped this week. Just hours before the show would air, Gallagher would be released from the company after being accused of trying to rape a girl in 2014. Others in the company had been similarly accused, but Gallagher was the only man to be released at this time.
Because of the rushed nature of this release, his match with Jake Atlas would still be part of the show, making this the final WWE apperance of the man who has no right to be called a Gentleman. Would Atlas send him out on his back in his debut match for 205 Live, or would Gallagher leave WWE on a undeserved high note?
205 Live Original vs. 205 Live Rookie
The crowd was firmly behind Atlas as this match started, and he grabbed the arm of Gallagher and took him down the mat. Gallagher would slip out and grab the ankle, before kicking Atlas in the ribs, before grabbing a tight headlock. Atlas would find himself free after sending Gallagher off the ropes, with him nearly being caught with a sunset flip. He’d manage to roll through and go for a kick, which was dodged, but quickly go for a standing moonsault which was dodged again.
A brief standoff would end with a right hand to the face from Gallagher, as he sent Atlas into the corner. Atlas would hit a very lucha libre styled springboard armdrag, and send Gallagher across the ring. After a brief exchange in the middle of the ring, Atlas would bounce off the middle rope for another impressive armdrag, before looking for an inverted suplex. Gallagher would counter this, and leave Atlas drapped over the top rope.
Jack Gallagher Takes Control
After taking Atlas’s breath away, Gallagher would throw some hard kicks and knees at his opponent. The match was his pace now, with his opponent slowed down and being beat down. Atlas would fight back, but he isn’t on the same striking level as Gallagher. A surfboard stretch with a boot on the neck would be applied, before Gallagher went for a percise dropkick to the neck.
Atlas would get fired up and throw some heavy chops at Gallagher in the corner, who goaded him on. Gallagher would come back with a headbutt to the stomach before applying an armbar, which Atlas reversed into a pinfall attempt. Atlas would be placed into an abdominal stretch, but he’d fight through to pain to break out with a back suplex.
Jake Atlas Makes The Comeback
A series of lariats followed by a neckbreaker would show that Atlas is still in this match. He would go for a German Suplex, but a standing switch would almost allow Gallagher to do the same. Distance would be created, and Atlas would be trapped in a Guillotine Choke. Not ready to give up, Atlas would fight to roll into the ropes to break the hold. Some heavy forearms and a quick kick to Atlas on the apron would keep Gallagher in control.
However, Atlas would fling himself through the ropes and catch Gallagher in the gut, before hitting a snap German Suplex. This put Gallagher in position for the Rainbow DDT, which was hit perfectly to give Atlas the win.
Jack Gallagher Won’t Be Missed
In the end, Gallagher’s last showing on WWE TV has ended with him scowling angerly at the camera after losing. If this was to set up a longer feud between Atlas & Gallagher, we will never know, and frankly Atlas is better off without feuding with him given the news. Jake Atlas is the future of 205 Live, and that future is hopefully going to be bright enough to make up for some of the past.
