Brian Pillman Jr. Makes AEW Return For AEW Dark

When it comes to second generation wrestlers, Brian Pillman Jr. shows as much potential as expected. Fans of wrestling from the 1990’s could never forget Brian Pillman, from his days in WCW having classics with Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, tagging with Steve Austin as The Hollywood Blondes, or pulling a gun on his former partner in WWE. His career would end tragically short, but his legacy isn’t ending anytime soon.

Brian Pillman Jr. is the spitting image of his father, and has been honing his craft on the indies and in companies like MLW, wanting to earn his way into a major company. This has paid off for him, as he is now getting his first singles match in AEW.

Brian Pillman Jr. Has Appeared For AEW Before

In 2019, Brian Pillman Jr. would be one of the many men in the excellent Casino Battle Royale, and while he wouldn’t win that match, he left a lasting impression. The match would be won by Hangman Page, who’d go on to All Out to face Chris Jericho to crown the first ever AEW Champion. Many felt Pillman Jr. would be in AEW again very soon, but it would take over a year for his second chance.

Facing Shawn Spears On AEW Dark

If you’re going to make your singles debut for AEW, you could have a worse opponent than Spears. He’s sure to make Pillman Jr. look fantastic in their match, and there some interesting history at play in this one. You have the son of a former member of the Four Horsemen going up aganist someone managed by one of the original members. AEW has been teasing a return of the legendary stable for a while now, and this could be the missing piece. Brian Pillman Jr. would round out Shawn Spears, and FTR in the speculated stable, taking the assumed spot of Cody Rhodes.

This is the biggest chance in the young career of the talented Brian Pillman Jr. He’s going to make the absolute best of it, and we could even see him walk away with an upset victory. Pillman would just feel right in AEW, being on the same network his father got famous on.

Do you think AEW will sign Brian Pillman Jr. following this match? Should he have been a surprise opponent of Cody Rhodes? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
