CBS “The Bold and the Beautiful” Spoilers here ready to roll into the end of this week’s Fan Choice theme with our second to last selection. Or would that be number two out of five? Maybe they should do an official countdown type of thing or something?
What’s kinda cool about this throwback spoiler is it’s not a long throwback, if we want to consider it one at all, as it aired on March 12, 2020. Yep, only a couple of months back before society went haywire and had to shutdown.
So, CBS “The Bold and the Beautiful” feels safe in saying a few fans will recognize this episode before we get deep into it, but it’s still fun to get into these since we tend to find something new every time.
So, without wasting anymore time, let’s grab some snacks and drinks and settle in for a doozy of an episode.
Douglas is the key
Thomas Forrester (Mathew Atkinson) had been relying on his manipulation of his son, Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri), to help him convince Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) to marry him so they could be a family. All of this went on while Thomas was in the process of marrying Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes).
We’re sure we’re all on the same page now, no?
Anyway, Thomas’ plan seemed to be working as halfway through his and Zoe’s wedding ceremony, Douglas finally has the meltdown Thomas has been pushing him towards for a while. Crying, Douglas ran upstairs with Hope right behind him.
Knowing his plan is about to bear fruit, Thomas tried to stall as much as he could before agreeing to continue with the ceremony. Of course, she stammered his vows as he tried to draw things out as long as he possibly could.
Suddenly, everyone stopped and gasped as Hope returned with Douglas at her side, but she was wearing the wedding dress Thomas had designed for her.
Looks like everything’s coming up Thomas, but not even his hair-brained scheme was idiot proof.
Can’t trust family
As much as Douglas was the lynchpin, his sister, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), was just as important, but her conscience won out and she admitted everything to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and they managed to get word to Hope and the game was on.
But this isn’t what burns us. It did back then since Thomas apparently never learns new tricks, but this time is was how no one aside from Hope, Zoe, and Vincent Walker (Joe LoCicero) seemed to give a flying fig about Douglas’ well being. Sure, someone would occasionally mention him, but that was it.
This was in light of everyone knowing how Thomas had manipulated him previously. Seriously. Thomas could’ve been feeding him the best drugs in the world and only Hope, Zoe, and Vinny would’ve card.
A perfect example was Hope’s mom, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), who cared more about her daughter being sucked into Thomas world than Douglas. Maybe if Douglas was in his 20s or 30s he’d be a Forrester man she’d care about?
It’s just amazing how everyone’s focus was on helping Hope and then maybe Douglas despite them knowing he was part of the manipulation.
Anyway, end of rant. This doesn’t talk away from the awesomeness of the episode and seeing Thomas teetering so close to the edge of victory or defeat.
