During her stint in WWE NXT, Shayna Baszler was the focus of the women’s division. Her submission and striking abilties were second to none, and it carried her through two lengthy reigns as NXT Women’s Champion, the only person to hold that title twice. Only Kairi Sane & Rhea Ripley could figure out how to take her down, but after losing the championship to Ripley, it was time to leave. After one final ass-kicking to Shotzi Blackheart, Shayna would appear on Monday Night RAW with a laser target on then RAW Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch.
Becky Lynch Wanted To Drop The Title To Shayna Baszler At Wrestlemania
While the way that Lynch’s record setting title reign ended was perfect in it’s own way, many believe the reign should have ended in the match with Shayna Baszler at Wrestlemania. This includes Lynch herself, who knew she’d be taking time off soon, baby or no baby. However, the one person who controls it all didn’t believe this, this being Vince McMahon himself. He decided Lynch should retain, so she did. Simple as that. It was a crafty loss, with Lynch countering Baszlers choke into a pin, a move that many took as this simply being their first of many battles. This was obviously not the case, but Baszler still looked strong. She’d break arms on her way to Money In The Bank, where she wouldn’t even reach the roof.
We Haven’t Seen Baszler Since
Her final apperence for WWE at this time was at Money In The Bank, where Asuka & Nia Jax teamed up to take her out. She was orignally planend to win the match, but plans chaged. Simply put, she doesn’t have support from Vince himself. He doesn’t quite understand her style, or why people would want to see that in his company. Someone like Matt Riddle has a better chance, as despite also coming from an MMA background, he has much more flash in his style. Baszler is slow, methodical, intense. These all combine into great matches, but that doesn’t matter.
With how quickly Vince soured on Baszler, unless she head back to NXT? We can expect an EC3 like run on the main roster for her, before her eventual release or retirement. She could find a backstage role as an agent or trainer at the WWE Performance Center, but if reports are to be believed? She has little to no future in WWE at this moment.
