This past Monday, we saw a special moment on RAW. Heath Slater would make one final apperence in WWE, showing up at the call of Dolph Ziggler to play mindgames with his former faction mate, and close friend, Drew McIntyre. This involved a passionate promo, and a short match which saw McIntyre win with a single Claymore kick. However, it ended with them doing to old 3MB pose, as Slater would ride off into the sunset.
The segment was a hit, and one of the best parts of that episode of Monday Night RAW. It added some nuance to the character of McIntyre, with him having not reached out to an old friend like they did for him in his time of release. But if it wasn’t for Mcintyre, the segement wouldn’t have even happened.
Drew McIntyre Convinced Heath Slater To Come Back For The Sendoff
It’s now very clear that Slater is going elsewhere, and not sticking around to slip back into the WWE undercard. He’s been teased to make an Impact Wrestling debut, reuniting with old tag team partner and ECW original, Rhyno. After a rough run in WWE which lead to Slater being burnt out, it was hard to convince him to come back. “Heath was a little bit against it and I spoke to my wife right before the phone call I made to Heath to try and convince him to come onto the show for the segment.
“She reminded me how I felt at the time when I was released and sure enough, he felt the same. He appreciated the opportunity with WWE, it was where he had made his name, but mentally he has moved on. He’s ready for the next stage and he’s not sure about going backwards, so I made it clear to him like ‘trust me, this isn’t going to be like anything you’ve done.”
McIntyre said in an interview with TalkSport.
It Was Only Missing Jinder Mahal
They would eventually get Heath on board, and it was a great way to end the 3MB saga, only being better if Jinder Mahal could have been there as well.
“My relationship with Heath as we saw on RAW – especially the ending – it was very, very real and we knew that was our last moment. The only thing that was missing was Jinder. That would have been perfect closure for 3MB until Heath returns to try and fulfill the 3MB prophecy”
Do you think Slater will eventually come back to WWE after his release and become WWE Champion like Mahal & McIntyre before him, or will the prophecy go unfilled? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
