FTR is already one of the top tag teams in AEW, just based on their past experience and reputation as one of the best teams in the world. They’ve already beaten former AEW Tag Team Champions in S.C.U, and the local bruisers of Butcher & The Blade. With a huge match coming at Fyter Fest, where they will team with The Young Bucks to face Butcher, The Blade, and The Lucha Bros. The Lucha Bros are one team they’ve taken offense to especially, as they don’t respect the rules of tag team wrestling.
FTR Says “If There Are No Rules, There Is No Heat”
FTR would appear on Busted Open Radio with Bully Ray, to talk about their run in WWE and their current run in AEW. Their thoughts on Tag Team rules would come up of course, and they’d say how they want to change things back.
“There has to be much more semblance of rules, otherwise it’s a Texas Tornado, it’s a Fatal Four Way, it’s whatever you want it to be. If there are no rules, there is no heat. No way to make somebody care or somebody to be in danger. There is no way to put sympathy to put heat on a baby face. There is no way to get the explosion on a hot tag because the guy has already blown his own comeback before he’s down, before the tag. Then, all four guys are in the ring for the last 10 minutes anyway.
I’m going to get pissed off talking about it, sorry, but yes, I think it has to be buckled down. It doesn’t have to be as stringent but we came here with the intentions of doing whatever we had to do to get it to where it is more of a tag team structure, even if it’s not the traditional rules. There has to be more structure that way every team means more.”
They Have A Good Point
It’s hard to not agree with them. The AEW tag team division is one of the best talent wise in the world, with even lower ranked teams like QT Marshall & Dustin Rhodes looking like absolute stars when they get in the ring. However, even a veteran like Rhodes falls to the same failings that FTR mentions. It’s simply the AEW style, and that’s what FTR has to change.
Will they succeed in this, or will things remain the same outside of FTR’s matches? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
