This past week on AEW Dynamite, we saw WARHORSE challenge Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship. He gave a fantastic fight, having Cody very well scouted and doing everything in this power to keep the match going, before falling to a Figure Four Leg Lock. However, while he was just brought in as an opponent for Cody due to internet hype, could he have left with an AEW contract?

AEW Has Signed Two Other Men Who Faced Cody Rhodes

There is a precedent for this happening, as we’ve already seen it twice. Both Ricky Starks & Eddie Kingston were brought in with a similar purpose, to face Cody Rhodes for the TNT Champion, and both would end up with contracts with the company. While Kingston is a legend of the industry, Starks is very similar to WARHORSE.

Both are young, talented wrestlers with a unique look and serious charisma. They might not be the best wrestlers in the world at this time, but they’re long term investments for the young company. AEW has their current crop of stars, but they’re also constantly building their future roster. The Elite won’t be around forever, but men like Ricky Starks, MJF, ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry, Marko Stunt, Sammy Guevera are the future of AEW, and WARHORSE fits into that future all the same.

WARHORSE Got A New Theme Song and Big Entrance

While AEW could have just had WARHORSE be in the ring after a commercial break and have Cody Rhodes make his entrance. Instead, he got an absolute banger of a heavy metal theme song, complete with pyro as well. AEW would later release this theme song alongside others on Bandcamp as AEW Themes 2.0 with it having the title ‘Lets Ride’. WARHORSE’s theme would be placed alongside themes for Abaddon, Vickie Guerrero, Kip Sabian, Britt Baker and more.

This is a lot of effort for a wrestler that was brought in for a single match, even if it’s a major title match. Even if it’s just bringing him in for shows like AEW Dark, you can’t help but feel we’re not done seeing WARHORSE rule ass in this company. Do you think AEW has signed WARHORSE?
